Bitez
Bitez, about 5 km west of Bodrum, successfully combines the tradition of a centuries old village with a wide range of touristic conveniences.
Formerly Bitez was named "Ağaçlı" which means "consisting of many trees", because Bitez is located midst of large mandarine groves, inviting you for a long, recreative walk.
In the centre of the town you can explore the old village, remained from former
times. Here the nativeness was preserved and you still can meet the traditional
way of Turkish life in the tea houses and small corner shops.
Strolling down to the sea, you will become aware of Bitez' development
to a modern, attractive holiday resort.
Up to now this place was spared by mass tourism, although it becomes narrower
at the beach. The sandy beach, sloping down to the water only slightly, is
clean and well cared. On that score this beach is very popular with families
with small children.
Sunshades as well as deckchairs are free of charge everywhere at Bitez
beach.
Among surfers Bitez beach is well established worldwide. Optimal conditions for beginners and advancers are found here. British surfers detected this bay already years ago and established several surfing schools. E. g. you can get trained in surfing with "Sun World Sailing". For years now international contests are held in Bitez.
Friends of football and volleyball don't get a raw deal: There are fields to play on laid out.
Visiting the local candy-factory, which is still a family business, is very
much liked by children - and their parents as well.
Furthermore day trips to Bodrum, to the bazaar of Milas or even short
cruises to small, romantic villages along the coast are attracting.
It doesn't matter if you are visiting Bitez as a single or with your
whole family, here you really will enjoy your holiday. You may relish Turkish
or international gastronomic specialities in restaurants, bars or cafes, surrounded
of blooming gardens overlooking the fantastic seascape.
Actually it is cared for your physical comfort in every respect: relaxation,
entertainment and sporting activities.
It's becoming rather silent in Bitez at night, no disturbing noise and no crowds
of people. Of course, at the beach the restaurants and bars are
getting livelier now, but in contrast to Bodrum
or Gümbet there is a calmer atmosphere in Bitez.
Looking for a cosy evening, you will be definitely right in Bitez.
